The birth of Eric Haraldsson and the end
Eric Haraldsson (Nicknamed: Eric Bloodaxe) Born on 885? 895?AD - 954 AD, was born into a family of the Harald, the eldest son out of the 11-20 sons in the family. Bloodaxe's father,King Harald Fairhair (850AD-932AD) , the father of 11-20 sons. He gave them the royal title and assigned lands to them, which they were to govern as his representatives . When he grew old, he handed over his supreme power to his favourite son, Eric Bloodaxe. Bloodaxe was then defeated at Stainmore in 954 which brought an end to the independence of Vikings Northumbria.
The Early Life
Eric Haraldsson, nicknamed Bloodaxe was the second King of Norway (930AD-940AD), he was the eldest son and probably the most favourite son of his father, King Harald Fairhair. During 920AD, Bloodaxe undertook a viking expedition to Bjarmaland, in norther Russia and began his conquest by sailing down the Dvina River into Russia, over there he sacked small trading port of Permina. Afterwards Bloodaxe was invited by the King of Denmark, King Gorm the old. It was the feast where he met Gunnhild and married her the next night, Gunnhild is told to be an evil witch. Then the coming Spring, Eric Bloodaxe slaughtered the forces of his brothers and regained his throne of Norway.
